Tessera Mundi

The seal

The tessera
has arrived

You are holding a Tessera Mundi. From this moment it is yours.

Six centimetres by six, two and a half thick. Glass, enamel, gold leaf, silver and natural stone, laid one by one on a cement support. It is a single piece, signed on the back. There is no second one.

I.

Keep it

Place it where the light can reach it. The relief of the tesserae changes with the hours: in the morning it is not the same work as in the evening.

II.

Or give it away

A tessera that changes hands does not leave the work: it widens it. Just tell me where it went, so the Atlas can follow it.

III.

And tell its story

Your city or village can join the Atlas, the map of every tessera in the world. The place only — never the address.

Joining the Atlas

Send me a photograph
and a few lines

Where the tessera lives, how it reached you. On WhatsApp you can write and attach the photograph in one go: the message is already laid out, you only have to fill it in.

Or fill in the form

I answer personally, as soon as I can.

Only the city or village ever appears on the Atlas. Never the address.

It is written on the back, next to the signature.

You can ask to be removed from the Atlas at any time, without having to explain why: one line to lpecoraro@ticino.com and the point disappears. How I handle data

Have you seen this tessera at someone's home, or come across it by chance?
Tessera Mundi is a work in progress by Leonardo Pecoraro.

The Manifesto The Pact of Keeping The Atlas

From the studio

Would you like to know
when a new one is born?

I write when there is a new tessera, and when one of those already gone sends word of where it went to live.
