I work with mosaic because it keeps the gesture that interests me more than any other: putting fragments together until they hold.
Among all the coloured tesserae I choose the ones that, in that moment, whisper to me that they could belong. I think of nothing while I compose: I let myself be carried by the time that isn't there. I don't feel the tesserae only by touch — I feel them with every sense. The flow never ends, and I am only the point where it passes.
What goes into the tesserae comes from outside: nature, the green that restores and absorbs me every day. Curiosity about how things are made. Animals, who are on this world alongside us and deserve respect. Beauty in every form, visible and spiritual. And play — which is not a break from the work, it is part of it.
I sow beauty hoping for a cure for the world. I know it is little. But it is an act of love, and it is what I know how to do.
The tesserae that go into people's homes keep the project standing — the materials, the time, and the ones still to be made. It is a simple circle, and I like that it shows.
This is a short biography. The full one, the other projects and the exhibitions live on my main site.
